Salt Path footsteps lead to special treat at folk festival

A REMARKABLE artistic performance inspired by the spectacular South West Coast Path is one of the creative highlights on the main stage menu at this summer’s Sidmouth Folk Festival.

A striking collaboration between bestselling author Raynor Winn and folk music supergroup the Gigspanner Big Band, Saltlines is a reimagining of traditional songs and tunes from Devon and Cornwall, embellished by prose passages written exclusively for the production.

The show’s headline slot in Sidmouth’s Ham Marquee on Tuesday, August 8 – one of a feast of 800 diverse events scheduled for this year’s festival – has a special significance. It’s the only performance on its current tour that will be staged within a stone’s throw of the famous 630-mile coastal route that Raynor walked with her husband, Moth, at a desperate time in their lives.
