The Pilgrims have won three times at the start of this season and in each of them they have opened the scoring, while in all four of their defeats they have conceded first. Argyle went behind after only 40 seconds when they were beaten 2-1 at Preston North End, and trailed by two goals before the half-hour mark.
They then conceded twice in the opening eight minutes against Bristol City at Ashton Gate and went on to lose 4-1, so Schumacher will want his side to make a much better start at Hull.
The Pilgrims are still waiting for their first away Championship win of the season after drawing 0-0 at Watford before suffering defeats against Birmingham City (2-1), Preston and Bristol City.
Schumacher said: “When you go away to Championship teams, it’s hard enough being at 0-0 and trying to get a result. We had to work incredibly hard to do that at Watford. We gave ourselves a mountain to climb at Birmingham, Preston and Bristol City.
“Against Birmingham and Preston we responded brilliantly and I felt controlled those two games, but against Bristol we never. It just got away from us.
