A LACK of hotels is holding back the ambition for Plymouth to become a top destination for tourists flocking to the South West.

It is a problem that is not likely to be fixed in a hurry, as complicated lease arrangements and spiralling construction costs are hampering a number of hotel projects coming to fruition.
David Draffan, the council's service director of economic development, said there is no shortage of interest from hotel operators.
