Show goes on for theatre company

CAST FIGHTS BACK WITH FUNDRAISING AFTER LAST SHOW CANCELLED BY COVID

A PLYMOUTH theatre group pushed to the brink of financial ruin as their last show was cancelled after one night because of Covid-19, have fought back and are preparing for a new pantomime.

Touchwood Theatre Company saw their production of Dick Whittington at the Devonport Playhouse last a single night, after members of cast and chorus came down with the illness.

Although the theatre gave them a reduction in costs, the cancellation of their remaining three shows left them with big bills to pay – and meant they were unable to complete a run which was in memory of David Bailey, their founder and chairman.

But the company have organised a number of fundraising events, and will be back with their version of Beauty and the Beast, which is on at the Muse Theatre, inside Lipson Cooperative Academy, from November 23-25.

Thankfully, director Liz Fedrick said their one and only perfomance of Dick Whittington did end with a moving tribute to Mr Bailey, who died earlier last year.
