Tavistock head to Ivybridge looking to kick on in FA Cup
The Herald|August 16, 2024
THE FA Cup has not been too kind to Tavistock in the last couple of seasons, but having accounted for Ilfracombe Town at the extra preliminary stage two weeks ago, they are seeking a place in the hat for the first qualifying round draw on Monday at Ivybridge Town tomorrow.

Two seasons ago, it was Brixham then a South West Peninsula League team that dumped them out with victory at Langsford Park while 12 months ago, Western League side Barnstaple Town did the same.

Tomorrow, Tavi head across the Moors to Erme Valley looking to banish those memories and take the next step in a cup run which would generate some much needed funds at Langsford Park. But Henderson knows it won't be easy.

"They are a really good side that did very well last year, winning the SWPL East title, they have got a really good togetherness and some really good local players," Henderson said. "It will be a tough tie for us because it's a one-off game and naturally, it's like a Cup final for them - and for us as well, we are desperate to progress in the competition as well.

"We have a bigger squad this year and it is difficult because you want to keep everyone happy, but it is early in the season and you are still looking at players to see who your standout players are and one or two other things as well. But hopefully, we can go there and do what is needed to progress.
