PLYMOUTH’S Laureate of Words Laura Horton has been commissioned by The Box to create a new audio play connected to one of its public artworks.
The Light Follows Everyone is live online and has been inspired by Sybilla – a fused glass window in St Luke’s church – one of the award-winning museum’s gallery spaces.
Built in 1828, and once the centre of a parish, St Luke’s underwent a restoration between 2016 and 2020 as part of the development of The Box and now hosts exhibitions.
Portuguese artist Leonor Antunes was commissioned to work on the East Window as part of The Box’s opening programme, her design based on the end pages of a volume dating from 1726 which is part of The Box’s important Cottonian Collection.
Through her laureateship, Laura Horton was invited to create a work inspired by an item in The Box’s collections, and chose the window.
