Theatre requires £30m investment

THEATRE Royal Plymouth needs £30 million investment to secure its future as a leading theatre, according to a survey of it facilites and infrastructure.

A report by The Society of London Theatre (SOLT) and UK Theatre published this week included the results of a survey demonstrating the urgent need for systematic investment in theatre buildings across the country.

For its part, Theatre Royal Plymouth (TRP) said it needs a cash boost of £30 million to:

■ Expand its workshop, as TRP is turning away high-profile and financially beneficial projects due to lack of space.

■ Overhaul The Lyric theatre’s technical infrastructure to mitigate the risk of losing performances and touring productions.
