The future appears uncertain for a submarine-hunting warship that currently stands rusting and covered in scaffolding at Devonport.
The Royal Navy Type 23 frigate HMS Westminster, made famous after it appeared in the 007 film Tomorrow Never Dies, had been due for a £ 100 million upgrade to keep her at sea for at least another five years.
However, according to The Mirror, work has been suspended after engineers discovered the “poor material condition of the ship”. Now, fears she could be scrapped altogether have begun to mount after the government refused to guarantee her future.
