That mammoth effort also helped his Cherry Tree C team to an entertaining 6-5 win over Cornwall Gate, who had Simon Stevenson in vintage form.

Sixteen tons rained down from the arm of the six-time Champion of Champions, including one of the three maximums overall in the contest.

The other three treble visits went to the victorious away side with Towl's team-mates, Frankie Stout and Dave Hollow, both adding 180s.

A number of mid-range finishes and short games of 501 lit up the business end of legs with Matt Vosper starting that in the final rubber of the team game section.

Vosper plundered an 88 combination in a 2-0 win before stepping up to produce some magical stuff during his 3-1 individual success over Lee Wickett.

A leg in 14 sat nicely alongside an 86 checkout in that win, whilst Wickett's only contribution to the scoreboard in that game came with an 80 kill.

Stevenson then produced legs in 18, 15 and 14 darts during his 3-1 win over Frankie Stout, who himself finished in 18.

Stevenson's biggest finish in that contest of 91 was also the best amongst his cohort, whilst Towl checked an 18-darter to go alongside his aforementioned checkout in a 3-0 singles success.

Stevenson's team-mate, Andy Malinowski, rounded off the affair with a 3-1 singles win that ended with him reaching ten tons for his night's work.

A player from each side of Kings Arms B's 7-4 win over Indian A finished their evening's work with 15 scores of a ton or more.

Simon Kelly and Harry Bull were the players to achieve that feat and the pair met in a 3-1 win for the former that produced 17 of that 30-ton combination.

Bull's only leg was settled with a 108 checkout that bettered an 82 from Kelly's team-mate, Paul Carpenter, for the best finish of the game, whilst Kelly added an 18-darter in the win.
