Schauffele’s thrilling victory at Valhalla lifted him to second in the world rankings and gives him valuable multi-year exemptions into all four major championships.
In theory that makes it more likely that Schauffele could be tempted by a big-money offer to join the Saudi-funded breakaway, safe in the knowledge that he could also still compete in the game’s four biggest events.
“The opposite would probably be closer to the truth,” Schauffele’s father Stefan told Golf.com following his son’s win.
