As with most of his tweets, it was hard to assess the exact level of truth versus piss-taking, but with him the latter is always the default. It's hard to believe either Gallagher brother being scared of the media since interviews have always been one of their key talents, to the extent that Noel once called mouthing off to journalists his "hobby".
Yet truth always resides in Liam's proclamations, and the brothers almost certainly won't be doing any interviews, which indeed will be for their own good. Quite simply, nobody involved in the Oasis reunion can afford either Gallagher to attack the other in the press, something which has been at the core of the band's existence since the infamous Wibbling Rivalry bootleg from an NME interview in 1994 (sample exchange, Noel: "If you're proud about getting thrown off ferries, why don't you go and support West Ham and get out of my band and go and be a football hooligan? We're musicians, right? Not football hooligans." Liam: "You're only gutted cos you was in bed f**kin' reading your f**kin' books.")
