'BJP leaders informed about party rebels damaging us'
The Morning Standard|November 11, 2024
IN the run-up to the Maharashtra assembly elections due November 20, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde spoke with Sudhir Suryawanshi and shared his views about his government plans for the state.
'BJP leaders informed about party rebels damaging us'

Excerpts:

How satisfied are you with seat-sharing within the ruling MahaYuti allies?

Everyone wanted to get a large share, besides wanting to field particular candidates in specific constituencies. However, everything does not happen as per individual party's wishes. We have resolved issues amicably. We have to keep our focus on winning irrespective of candidates and seats.

At many places, BJP's rebels are contesting against official MahaYuti candidates. Do you see this as a BJP tactic to cut Sena to size?

We have informed top BJP leaders about the rebels' presence and we expect some action. We have all the remedies in place.

Each election has an 'X factor'. What X or key factors do you see on the ground?
