CAS dismisses wrestler Vinesh's application for shared silver

THE Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on Wednesday dismissed the application filed by wrestler Vinesh Phogat challenging her disqualification from the women's 50kg competition at the recently-concluded 2024 Paris Olympics. It's understood that the operative part of the order was communicated directly to the Indian Olympic Association, an interested party in the case.

The two-time World ChampiALL IN A WEEK AUG 6 onships bronze medallist had challenged her disqualification on August 7 and said that she should be awarded a shared silver as she had reached the final on the first day of the competition when she successfully made the weight cut at the weigh-in. Vinesh was found 100 grams overweight the next morning which led to her disqualification.

Meanwhile, Vinesh is scheduled to return to the country on August 17.

Reacting to Wednesday's deWrestler Vinesh Phogat, competing in the women's 50kg division, clears weigh-in before opening day of bouts.

AUG 6 Phogat beats the previous unbeatable Yui Susaki in the opening round. She further beats Oksana Livach and Yusneylys Guzman to advance into the final. Assured of a silver, the 29-year-old has already broken a host of record.

AUG 6-7 After her semifinal bout, Phogat begins the arduous process of cutting weight to clear next day's weigh-in. It's reported that she has put on almost 3kgs during the course of Aug 6, just afterher third bout. Race against time begin.
