In a setback to the Aam Aadmi Party ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, its senior leader and cabinet minister Kailash Gahlot on Sunday announced he would step down from his ministerial position.

Gahlot quits, AAP claims ED-CBI pressure

He also resigned from the primary membership of the party. His resignation was reportedly accepted by Chief Minister Atishi.

AAP sources said Gahlot had no choice other than joining the BJP due to multiple investigations by Central agencies, including the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Income Tax Department. Gahlot has reportedly been under scrutiny in several cases, with multiple raids conducted on his properties in recent months.
