Jaishankar attends Indian Ocean Rim meeting, holds bilaterals in Sri Lanka

EXTERNAL Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Tuesday visited Sri Lanka to attend the council of ministers' meeting of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) and to hold bilateral talks with the leadership in Colombo.

India assumed the role of vice chair of the IORA meeting, being held from October 10-12. Sri Lanka is the current chair of IORA. India is set to take over IORA chairship for 2025-27, the external affairs ministry said.

This was Jaishankar's second visit to the island nation this year. In July, Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe had travelled to Delhi.
