WITH 147 stubble burning cases reported in Punjab on Friday, a total of 10,443 cases of farm fires have been reported this season so far. The Punjab Police has registered more than 5,000 cases against the violators.

As per the data collected by the Consortium for Research on Agroecosystem Monitoring and Modeling from Space, 872 residue-burning events were detected in the six states of the country on Friday. The highest number of cases were in Madhya Pradesh at 396, followed by Uttar Pradesh at 232, Punjab 147, Rajasthan 80, Haryana 17 and Delhi was nil.
