"FORMER Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh's demise has deeply saddened me", said BJP MP and former CM Basavaraj Bommai. "As an economist and Prime Minister, he led the nation for 10 years and brought significant changes to the country's economy", he added.
Dr Singh, with his strong connections to international organisations like the World Bank and IMF, played a crucial role in stabilising the nation. As the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), he was instrumental in implementing various schemes for the country's development. His contributions laid the groundwork for India's significant economic growth, Bommai said.
Dr Singh was a gentleman politician and a visionary statesman. The nation has lost a leader who consistently prioritised the country's welfare. He took several forward-thinking decisions, the benefits of which are being reaped by the country today. Unlike publicity-seeking politicians, he practised grounded and realistic politics. He took some unpopular but necessary decisions in the nation's interest. His resolute stance and wisdom were evident on many occasions.
