WITH an aim to preserve and promote the Kamba Ramayana, one of the most significant works in Tamil literature, the Ministry of Culture on Tuesday launched a comprehensive initiative; a festival, which is a series of performances, workshops, symposia, and educational competitions to ensure that future generations can connect with the epic text.

- PARVEZ SULTAN @ New Delhi

Union culture and tourism minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat inaugurated the festival at the Srirangam Temple, with recitals and performances by Kamba Ramayana Mandali (cultural troupes) from Tamil Nadu. The performances will be held at prominent temples across the state including Thirupullani Uthangudi, Madurantakam, Thiruneermalai and Vaduvur.
