Farmers Launch Indefinite Protest for Canal Water

Like every year, farmers in Krishna and Tungabhadra catchment areas of Raichur district have started a struggle for water from Narayanpur right bank canal (NRBC) and Tungabhadra left bank canal (TLBC) this year too.

Farmers in Lingasugur and Guragunta in the district have been continuing an indefinite protest for canal water for the past two days. On Thursday, Karnataka Pranta Raitha Sangha workers blocked the State Highway near Amarapur Cross in Devdaurg taluk, demanding that water be released into the Narayanpur left bank canal by April 20.
