Over 8L ration cards cancelled, Cong says tribals worst affected
The New Indian Express Kannur|December 18, 2024
BETWEEN 2013 and 2024, a total of 815,734 ration cards were cancelled in Gujarat, the Centre on Tuesday told the Rajya Sabha.
DILIP SINGH KSHATRIYA @Ahmedabad

Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution Nimbuben Jayantibhai Bambhaniya informed the House that these cancellations were part of nationwide reforms aimed at improving the Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS) through the use of technology.

While the government attributes the deletion of ration cards to digitization and other processes, the Congress party has alleged that this has unfairly affected tribal communities in the state, claiming that tribal ration cards in the region were wrongly cancelled.
