KALLUVATHUKKAL panchayat is grappling with a severe drinking water crisis as the Jal Jeevan project, under which water pipelines were to be laid on PWD roads, has been stalled for eight months. The pipes intended for the project now lie abandoned by the roadside. The delay stems from the district water authority's failure to settle ₹2 crore in pending bills to the contractor, who has since abandoned the work. As a result, residents are forced to rely on private water trucks.
