A SPIRITUAL fervour has enveloped Erumeli, the main midway centre of Sabarimala pilgrims, with the town gearing up for the ceremonial Petta Thullal (ritualistic dance) by the Ambalapuzha and Alangad teams on January 11. This will be preceded by Chandanakudam celebrations here on Friday night.
The Chandanakudam festival, a symbol of communal harmony, is organised as a prelude to the historic Petta Thullal under the aegis of Erumeli Mahallu Muslim Jama-at. This annual celebration commemorates the bond between Lord Ayyappa and his trusted Muslim lieutenant Vavar, highlighting the tradition of communal harmony between Hindus and Muslims in the region.
