Gujarat plaque row refuses to ebb, Jain seer slams BJP

A Jain Muni has stirred a controversy by rapping the Gujarat BJP leadership of surrendering to individualism and ignoring ideological and cultural traditions.

The sharp observations of Jain Muni Acharya Suryasagarji Maharaj come in the context of disagreements within the state BJP over the installation of a plaque in a half-complete office of the party in Vadodara.

The plaque was criticized for including the names of select party leaders, the ire directed against the state party president, CR Patil. The plaque was hurriedly removed and replaced with another carrying some more names to douse the anger.
