Ktm panchayat rolls out initiatives to rid district of garbage and drugs

THE annual budget of the Kottayam district panchayat, presented on Tuesday, launched comprehensive initiatives aimed at creating a drug-free and garbage-free environment in the district.
The budget presented by Jose Puthenkala, vice president of the district panchayat, has also introduced special projects focused on cancer prevention and mitigation of wild animal attacks in the forest fringes of the district.
The fifth budget of the incumbent council envisages a total revenue of ₹144.77 crore and an expenditure of ₹142.87 crore with a surplus of ₹1.90 crore.
