Around 40 students wearing the niqab had come to the college last Friday for an examination. The college principal, K Azeez, who saw the girls, asked them not to use the niqab while they are on the campus.
His act sparked a row, with the Samastha Kerala Sunni Students Federation (SKSSF), the student outfit of the EK faction of Samastha Kerala Jamiyyathul Ulama (Samastha), demanded that Azeez and the college management lift "niqab ban" on campus.
