The corporators cutting across party lines expressed frustration over the lack of funds for essential infrastructure work, such as road repairs, drainage systems, and footpath maintenance. They referred to a resolution passed during the tenure of former mayor Sudheer Shetty Kannur, which had allocated Rs 1 crore each to corporators for local area development.
Former BJP Mayor Jayanand Anchan raised the issue, urging the corporation to release the Rs 1 crore funds for each corporator's ward. BJP corporator Sangeetha Nayak echoed these concerns, explaining how the absence of funds halted crucial repair work.
