AIR Kerala, India's first ultra-low-cost carrier, has announced to operate flights to and from Mysuru. The new player in the aviation sector is planning three to six flights and the operations are likely to commence from May. The move will not only boost tourism but will also help industrial growth in the region as the closest airport is three hours away from the city of palaces.
Mysuru-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar held a meeting with the Air Kerala chairman and other top executives. The Airport Authority of India has assured its support to the new carrier by offering the required infrastructure for operations.
Yaduveer said there is growing demand from the public for flights connecting Mumbai, Kochi, Goa, Belagavi and other places in Maharashtra. He said Mysuru with its Palaces, temples and tiger reserves, has a lot of tourism potential and better air connectivity will only boost tourism in the region.
