Kerala officials transport waste back to their state from TN villages
The New Indian Express Mysuru|December 23, 2024
In a first, the Kerala government transported 18 trucks of biomedical waste originating from the state—mostly from the Thiruvananthapuram Regional Cancer Centre (RCC) and Credence Private Hospital—that was illegally dumped in Tirunelveli district, Tamil Nadu, back into their borders on Sunday.

The action follows directives from the southern bench of the National Green Tribunal (NGT), which took suo motu cognisance of the matter based on TNIE's report published on December 17. This marks the first time that waste from Kerala illegally dumped in Tamil Nadu got sent back.

Since the waste removal work could not be completed before nightfall, it will continue on Monday.
