The New Indian Express Nagapattinam|January 16, 2025
A special PMLA court in Raipur on Wednesday remanded six-time Congress MLA and former excise minister Kawasi Lakhma to Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody for seven days in the alleged Chhattisgarh liquor scam.
- EJAZ KAISER @ Raipur

Lakhma and his son Harish, who appeared before the ED for the third time, were arrested by the ED and produced before the court under high security. He was to visit along with his chartered accountant, but the Congress leader arrived alone.

The ED sought a 14-day remand, but the court granted only seven days. It is the first arrest of a cabinet-rank minister of the former Bhupesh Baghel government.
