234 posts vacant, states told to send IPS officers on Central deputation
The New Indian Express Thiruvananthapuram|January 18, 2025
FACING an acute shortage of officers in various ranks in central agencies and paramilitary forces, the Centre has written to the states asking them to make a conscious attempt to send names of Indian Police Service (IPS) officers for central deputation to fill around 234 posts, officials said on Friday.
- Mukesh Ranjan @ New Delhi

They said that according to the ministry's data, posts of 114 SPs, 77 DIGs, 40 IGs, two ADGs, and one SDG are lying vacant. They must be filled at the earliest so as not to impact the functioning of Central agencies and paramilitary forces, including that of the CBI, NIA, CRPF, ITBP, CISF, BSF, NSG, and SSB.
