THE paddy farmers in Kuzhalmannam, Chittoor, Nenmara, and Kollengode areas are all set to carry out a mass protest programme against the state government in coming days, on the lines of the ongoing strike by farmers in the Delhi-bordering area.
This demonstration is in response to what they perceive as anti-farmer policies implemented by the LDF government. The protest march will be organised in the Delhi Protest Model, they stated. More than 10,000 farmers are expected to participate, emphasising the widespread discontent within the agricultural community.
The protest is based on demands such as increase in support price, transfer of procurement amount directly to farmers, collection of transport charges from Supplyco and restoration of farmers' pension.
