Wild jumbo falls into well, rescued by forest officials

A WILD ELEPHANT that fell into a 25-foot-deep well on a private property in Odakkayam near Vettilappara in Urangattiri panchayat was rescued by forest officials on Thursday.

The animal reportedly fell into the well around 1 a.m. Following the incident, residents staged a protest in the area, citing challenges posed by wild elephants to their daily lives and agricultural activities. The protest delayed the rescue operation by at least 12 hours.
