THE Thoothukudi district collectorate campus which has been flooding during the northeast monsoon season every year has been neglected by the state government. Officials said in the past decade, the campus was inundated more than five times.
The collectorate premises KVK Maligai is at Thoothukudi Sivagami Ammaiyar Perunthitta Valagam, a few metres north of the Thoothukudi Tirunelveli NH. It was built and inaugurated on September 16, 1998 by former chief minister M Karunanidhi. The campus consists of separate blocks for the district police office, treasury, forest department, agriculture and food safety department, social welfare department, road transport office (RTO), rural development and EVM warehouse.
