Madras High Court clears way for MS award to TM Krishna

THE Madras High Court on Friday set aside an injunction by a single judge, allowing the Sangita Kalanidhi MS Subbulakshmi Mirror Award to be presented to acclaimed musician TM Krishna.

The prestigious award, instituted by The Hindu and carrying a cash prize of ₹1 lakh, will be conferred at the Music Academy on January 1, according to an academy press release.

A division bench comprising Justices SS Sundar and P Dhanabal issued the ruling in response to appeals by the Music Academy, The Hindu Group (THG) Publishing Private Limited, and The Hindu. These appeals challenged the injunction granted on a civil suit filed by V Shrinivasan, Subbulakshmi's grandson.
