Missing farmer's body recovered from agri field after four months

THE body of a 28-year-old farmer, M Muthukumaran, was recovered on Thursday from a farmland, almost four months after he went missing, on September 19, 2024.

The deceased, a resident of Semangalam near Thiruvennainallur in Villupuram, was allegedly murdered by his friend, M Tamilarasan, over a monetary dispute. "Tamilarasan used cheques signed by Muthukumaran to transfer nearly ₹8 lakh to his account without his knowledge. When Muthukumaran confronted his friend, Tamilarasan killed him with an iron rod and buried his body in his farmland," a police officer said.
