"We've been offering vaccines slowly, in a limited capacity, but now, this is the year we're ramping up our vaccines," discloses Sharon Decapia, Watsons Philippines SVP for marketing, public relations and sustainability. "During the pandemic, we partnered with the Department of Health (DOH) in their Resbakuna campaign. Now, it's more of vaccines to prevent regular ailments like flu, pneumonia, HPV (human papillomavirus), shingles (a painful rash illness), pertussis (whooping cough), hepatitis B, cervical cancer and other HPV-related cancers and diseases."
Sharon hastens to point out, "Aside from health and beauty products that Watsons stores all over the country offer, what we want to emphasize is the importance of a proactive approach to health, taking charge of one's health to prevent illness."
True, even with the flu vaccine, you can still have flu, "but the symptoms will just be very, very mild and will last for just a day," Sharon assured us.
Watsons is proud to support the priority goals of DOH, especially in terms of primary care, which includes vaccination or immunization. "We recognize that vaccines play a vital role in preventing diseases and promoting overall health," Sharon stresses. "By prioritizing immunization, we're not just helping individuals to protect themselves. More importantly, we're contributing to the well-being of the entire community."
