The Philippine Star|January 04, 2025
Citing security concerns, Senate Majority Leader Francis Tolentino is calling for a probe into the submersible drone recently found in Masbate.
CECILLE SUERTE FELIPE

"This inquiry aims to explore the origins and implications of the drone's presence in Philippine waters. It is urgent that we understand the drone's origin and intent," Tolentino said.

Fishermen discovered the six-foot drone, believed to be of Chinese origin, off the coast of Barangay Inawaran in San Pascual town in Masbate.

The drone, which appeared deactivated when it was found, appeared to be made of PVC and metal.

Initial assessments indicated it is a remote-controlled electronic device used for communication and navigation.
