According to the CBCPNews, the pope announced Mallari's new assignment on Dec. 29 at the Vatican. The 66-year-old Mallari will replace Bishop Enrique Macaraeg who passed away in October 2023.
As bishop of Tarlac, Mallari will oversee a diocese with about 60 parishes and a Catholic population of more than 1.2 million.
Meanwhile, bishop-elect Eugenio Cañete asked the Catholic faithful to pray for him as he takes on his new assignment as bishop of Gumaca, Quezon.
