“I will be here in Manila to watch the SONA. I have no schedule but I’m sure I’m here in Manila,” Duterte told reporters yesterday after her turnover ceremony at the Department of Education in Pasig City.
Duterte did not elaborate on why she would skip the S NA, but she earlier said she was appointing herself the “designated survivor,” a remark construed as a threat by some lawmakers.
However, Duterte maintained that her relationship with Marcos remains “ K” despite her insistence on skipping the event constitutionally mandated to be held at the Batasang Pambansa in Quezon City, the epicenter of the Vice President’s perceived rift with some members of the Marcos family and their allies.
