The party raised concerns over mismatches between the total votes polled and votes counted, citing specific examples and urging the ECI to clarify urgently.
A delegation led by former MP Amar Patnaik presented detailed data to the ECI in Delhi, pointing out inconsistencies between figures recorded in Form 17-C (filled by Presiding Officers at the end of polling) and Form 20 (compiled by Returning Officers after counting). These forms are critical to ensuring the integrity of the electoral process.
"Votes polled as recorded in Form 17-C are verified by polling agents and matched to the sealing of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). However, discrepancies arise when the same EVMs are counted, as reflected in Form 20. This raises doubts about the accuracy of the process," the BJD stated.
The party provided a detailed analysis of several polling booths across multiple assembly constituencies, revealing that Odisha witnessed a staggering 15%-30% variance between votes polled and counted. This is a sharp contrast to previous elections (2004-2019), where the discrepancy was within 0.5%-2%.
