A single bench of Justice Rohit Ranjan Agarwal passed the order on a civil revision plea moved by the Shahi Jama Mosque Committee challenging the trial court's order passed on November 19 directing an Advocate Commissioner to conduct a survey of the mosque based on a suit claiming that the mosque was built after destroying a temple.
The high court has called for the responses of the Union of India, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), the UP government, the district magistrate concerned and all the plaintiffs of the suit within two weeks.
The matter will be taken up for hearing by the court on February 25 next.
