Army launches hi-tech operation against terrorists as encounter in fourth day; 3 terrorists killed in north Kashmir Kokernagenters

Northern Army Commander Lt. General Upendra Dwivedi on Saturday reviewed the operational situation as the ongoing counter-terrorist operation in the Kokernag (Anantnag) forest area of South Kashmir entered fourth day.

Lt. General Dwivedi flew to the operation spot and took stock of the steps being taken to neutralise the terrorists. He was briefed by the ground commanders on the 'High Intensity Operations' in which Hi-tech Equipment is being used for surveillance and delivery of firepower alongwith the high impact of precision fire being used by the forces, said the Srinagar based Chinar Corps of the Indian Army.

The search operation for terrorists who killed two Army officers, a police DSP and a soldier has been further intensified and the Army is now taking the help of technology. It has deployed drones to drop bombs on the natural caves in which the terrorists are believed hiding. They are also using rocket launchers and mortars to hit the terrorists.

Gunfight between the troops and terrorists resumed in the afternoon after a brief lull. The terrorists appear to be trained in jungle warfare.
