Mafia don Atiq Ahmed broke down several times during his interrogation by the Uttar Pradesh STF and Prayagraj police on Friday and is said to have admitted that he was behind the conspiracy from jail to kill Umesh Pal and his security guards.
"I am solely responsible for my son's criminal act and his death as I had planned the murder," the don reportedly told his interrogators.
Atiq and his brother Afzal were brought to Dhoomanganj police station on Friday morning after the court sent them to police remand for four days starting this morning.
Sources said Atiq Ahmed confessed to the crime, after 3 hours of interrogation by the police.
Atiq is said to have confessed to have ordered the murder of Umesh Pal as he feared that the latter could implicate him in the 2005 murder of BSP MLA Raju Pal.
Atiq Ahmed is reported to be completely broken after the death of his son Asad. According to sources, Atiq Ahmed cried many times during the interrogation.
