The incident prompted animal lovers to file a police complaint. The locals who would feed the dog, along with other animal lovers, have protested the incident.
Oflate, the town has been facing a stray dog menace, with several people, including children being bitten. However, the latest incident has triggered an outrage among the people. A protest march was held in this regard today.
According to a local woman, she had been feeding the dog for a long time.
"It had arrived on time to take food on Friday night. It was found dead on Saturday. Some people said it had gone mad and attacked people. I am wondering how it could have gone mad overnight, since I had not observed anything unusual in its behavior, rather it had been playful," she said.
