A PROJECT ABOUT DEMENTIA AND MUSIC Wong Su San, Chen Zhangyi, Nora Samosir and Jean Tay University Cultural Centre Theatre Oct 16
Lily tells the story of an opera star who develops dementia at the peak of her career. The opera shows her gradual deterioration, the repercussions of her decline on relationships and how music - a tune remembered - connects a dementia patient with the family and caregiver in precious moments of lucidity.
The performance was staged in two parts on Oct 16: the docu-opera film A Day With Lily, which debuted in 2022, and this segued into the main event, the premiere of the chamber opera Losing Lily.
