Sazali gets 1-year disqualification
The Straits Times|October 01, 2024
Probed over two rides, both for his master Steven Burridge, on Sept 26, apprentice jockey Sazali Ramli got off one (Compelling), but was not as lucky for the other one (Flying Fighter).

He was disqualified one year for failing to ride Flying Fighter with sufficient vigour and determination over the final 200m of Race 6 at Kranji on Sept 21.

For his ride on Compelling in Race 7, Sazali was let off with a warning.

The area of concern regarding Compelling was in the home straight, especially at the 150m when there was clear running available to the inside of Fearless Warrior.

Sazali said that he had endeavoured to ride to Burridge's instructions to shift out into clear running in the straight, but had some difficulty doing so.

He added that Compelling tended to shift ground, and he was also concerned with his action over the concluding stages.
