Mexican lull over as deadly hurricane picks up strength again and heads for the US

STORM Beryl picked up pace again last night as it headed towards the US, putting Texas on disaster alert.

Winds were expected to have gained 23mph when it hits the Lone Star State today.

Three people died on the Caribbean island of Grenada after Beryl made landfall on Monday.

It was upgraded to a category 5 hurricane on Tuesday and its gusts of more than 160mph broke records for July, beating 2005's Hurricane Emily.
