DEFIANT Keir Starmer will face a chilly blast from Labour backbenchers opposed to winter fuel payment cuts when Parliament returns tomorrow.

The Prime Minister is likely to be met with anger from MPs who want to keep the annual payment, worth up to £300, for all pensioners.

But last night, Mr Starmer's team vowed to "roll up our sleeves" and push forward legislation intended to undo 14 years of Tory chaos.

Among the measures expected to pass through the Commons is a Bill to return railways to public hands and new rules preventing another Liz Truss-style Budget disaster.
