KEIR Starmer urged Iran not to respond yesterday after Israel unleashed revenge airstrikes.

Israel's early morning attack on military sites followed Iran's barrage of ballistic missiles four weeks ago.

But after the fresh escalation in the Middle East, the PM said restraint was needed by all sides.

Speaking on a visit to Samoa for a Commonwealth heads of government meeting, Mr Starmer said: "I am clear that Israel has the right to defend itself against Iranian aggression.
