Also, 81 such facilities were sealed by authorities for running illegally, giving allopathic medicines by AYUSH facilities and conducting illegal abortions. Another 58 health facilities were slapped fines. Checks are currently being conducted in health facilities across 30 districts in the state.
Speaking about the inspections, director, public health, Dr G Srinivas Rao said that registered doctors have been given two weeks to rectify issues that were found during the checks while strict action would be initiated against unqualified doctors giving allopathic medicines. The official advised district medical and health officers (DMHO)s to take strict action against private medical practitioners and registered medical practitioners putting up boards of hospitals/clinics or affixing doctor before their names.
Complaints of DMHOS demanding bribery were also received, he said and asked hospital owners to flag any such issue.
"If minor errors are found in registered health facilities, they will be given twoweek time to rectify the issue. If they are unable to do that, action will be initiated.
Action will be taken against ayurvedic and AYUSH doctors prescribing allopathic medicines," Rao added.
Meanwhile, registered medical practitioners met health minister T Harish Rao and the director public health on Wednesday appealing against the inspections.
However, they were told that people losing their lives due to abortions, deliveries and surgeries by RMPS cannot be ignored.
